Happy New Year! What an incredible 2025 it was for so many of us! Numerous personal records for time and distance were established, and many more conquered their first 10K, half marathon, full marathon, and ultra! As you start planning your resolutions and goals for the upcoming year, remember to be both optimistic and realistic. In other words, don't be afraid to try something new, be it a longer race distance, a faster time, an out of state run, etc. but at the same time make sure those goals align with your personal life and schedule. If you have questions, or need some suggestions, please do not hesitate to ask Coach Tony or Coach Jake for advice.
Our Winter and Spring Training session will begin on Tuesday, January 6. As usual, our target race will be the Prairie Fire 5K and Half Marathon on Sunday, May 3. However, we encourage you to look for other races, both locally and regionally to register for. Typical training for a 5K or 10K is four to six weeks, 12 to 14 weeks for a half marathon, and 14 to 16 weeks for a full marathon. Since we are over 16 weeks away from Prairie Fire, and the Oklahoma City Memorial Half and Full Marathon – another popular spring race – we will slowly ease into training during the month of January and pick things up in February.
Save the date! Our friends at Run Wichita are celebrating their 50th Anniversary on Saturday, January 24th with a party and you all are invited! In addition to good food and good times with good friends, there are raffle prizes to be won, including a donated prize from TJ's Running. Stay tuned for additional information on social media in the coming days.
Don't forget, your membership to TJ's Running is valid through June 30, 2026, so there is no need to renew your membership now. Starting around June 1 you will receive an email directly from runsignup on how to continue your membership with TJ's Running. However, if you have a friend, family member, colleague, etc. who is making a New Year's resolution to do more running or get in better shape in the coming year, we would love to have them join the family and they can do so at any time at runsignup.org/tjsrunning
